Meet Our Founder

Robert C. Chandler, Ph.D.

Dr. Bob Chandler (Robert C. Chandler, Ph.D.) is the founder and principal consultant for the Emperiria group of experts. Emperiria experts provide internal and external communication empirical assessment, training, coaching, education, presentations, expert witness testimony, brand stewardship and organizational performance development consulting services.

An accomplished researcher and scholar, including widely circulated “white papers” on communication during disasters, Dr. Chandler’s corporate and public client list includes Federal Reserve Bank, IBM, ABC Television, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Northwest Airlines, and Habitat for Humanity. He is the author, co-author, or editor of nine books and more than 195 academic and professional articles and publications. An applied researcher who is sought after as a subject matter expert and consultant on communication best practices thought leadership. Highly regarded for his innovative models and widely used practical templates such as the Chandler 3-3-30 Rule, 60 & 6 Principle, DA4 Emergency Notification Message Structure, Marks of a Leader, Chandler Message Map Model, The Chandler Crisis Lifecycle Model." Dr. Chandler is a frequently featured keynote speaker at professional conferences and symposiums across the globe as well as delivering popular national Webinars, workshops, and off-site seminars. Dr. Chandler received the 2011 NFPA Ronald Mengel Award and the 2010 George Gerbner Excellence Award for his applied research scholarship.

Dr. Chandler has served as professor and graduate program coordinator. His innovative programs and highly sought curriculum offerings have earned him an international following. He is an expert in organizational and business communication with a specialty in organizational crisis communication including communication during emergencies, crises, and disasters, as well as health and risk communication priorities for pandemics and other public health crises, effective risk communication, behavioral and psychometric assessment and appraisal, incident notification, crisis leadership, teamwork, multicultural and intercultural diversity, organizational integrity, public relations and program evaluation and assessment. Dr. Chandler is a well-regarded consultant and trainer who are assisted a wide range of public and private organizations including Fortune 500™ companies, public agencies, government, schools/universities, hospitals, businesses, and a wide variety of professional associations.
